2026 Internship Program:
UbuntuHarlem Magazine is accepting applications for our 2026 intern cycle. We are selecting 14 interns who are excited to create, collaborate, and build media rooted in Harlem community. This is a yearlong internship running from March 2026 through March 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
This program is for youth who want real experience in storytelling, design, media, outreach, and community leadership. Interns are active contributors to the magazine and help shape the voice and direction of UbuntuHarlem.
Eligibility
Applicants must be ages 14 to 25 and have a connection to Harlem through living, learning, working, creating, or deep personal ties. UbuntuHarlem is rooted in and accountable to Harlem youth.
Commitment
Interns commit a minimum of 2 hours per week and maintain consistent communication with Editor in Chief Sharjah M’Bodji regarding deadlines and collaboration. Communication takes place through Zoom, text, voice memos, and phone.

Emergency Snow Shovelers Opportunity ❄️
Get paid to help keep New Yorkers safe after winter storms.
Emergency Snow Shovelers are called on after heavy snowfalls to remove snow and ice citywide from public areas like bus stops, crosswalks and fire hydrants, and step streets.
We recruit temporary, per diem (by day) shovelers as needed.
Pay starts at $19.14 per hour and increases to $28.71 per hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week.
To be eligible, applicants must be:

Able to perform heavy physical labor

Sadie Nash Leadership Project (NYC & Newark)
The Sadie Nash Leadership Project is now accepting youth applications and hiring staff for its Summer Institute 2026, a paid, six-week social justice leadership program for high school students who identify as young women and gender-expansive youth in NYC and Newark, NJ.
Participants build leadership skills through social justice education, wellness practices, community engagement, and hands-on projects focused on issues they care deeply about.
Deadlines:

The Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS18) returns for its 18th year, and we invite you to be part of the team that makes it all possible.
From February 20–22, 2026, HFAS18 takes place at The Glasshouse in Midtown Manhattan, celebrating artists of the African Diaspora and the cultural legacy of Harlem. Our volunteers are essential to creating a welcoming, professional, and inspiring experience for artists, collectors, and guests from around the world.
